Floating City 2.0 Is Live

After hours of banging my head against a keyboard and trying to learn strange new programming languages, I’ve complete the 2.0 version of my website. Here I’ve included several tidbits of information that you might find helpful when creating your next website and a few quick news updates.

Recently a large portion of the website has been revamped and you might have noticed several different changes. Although it might not look like too much has changed, a large portion of the website now runs off of XML data sheets. I’ve been experimenting with JavaScript, Simple PHP, and JQuery to pull this off. I’ve found though that Simple PHP is above, beyond, and by far the best method for parsing XML. You can find an amazing tutorial to parse your own script in minutes here.

Working on a couple texture packages and a gear vector pack at the moment. They will be available free for usage in your commercial projects. Also keep your eyes peeled for a Photoshop haunted house tutorial and all kinds of other cool content that I can work on now, since the website upgrade is complete.

You can find a new portfolio page that makes use of JQuery’s Galleriffic plugin. There are many non-flash based galleries, but this is the most unique and customizable one I’ve found. Just make sure that you parse your gallery data with something other than JavaScript or it will crash (generates a JQuery library conflict). You may have bumped into my Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn page, but if you haven’t, please check them out and sign up to follow if you would like to support me.
